Being prepared was a must for this trip. This is Soulciety’s first year incorporating live music in their set and in less then 24 hours and without a full group rehearsal, our Bridge 2012 team was able to reconstruct our opening set with an original piece. The night before our performance me and Jazz Hudson were walking around The Sugar Land Hotel asking the employees if the lyrics in my chorus were the correct tagalog translation. The chorus said “Tayo na kaibigan O eto, lumilipas kame sa mundo.” Let’s go my friends, this is it, we are ready for the world. Jazz hudson contributed a poetry peace, and LaMae and the girls came up with an amazing dance piece the morning of the performance.
San Rufino Aguilar high school was so happy to see us because they’ve never had visitors. They were the first group of teens in there community to attend high school. As hungry for knowledge as the students were, we heard from their principle only 10% of the students are able to attend college. We sat eating our meryenda, meaning midday snack, and as we were interviewing the principle we asked her what other challenges they were having. She informed us that sometimes the school wouldn’t have enough money to feed the children so they themselves would take money out of their own pockets to feed them. Ron Carino gathered us together shortly after, as we were getting ready to leave and asked if we could pitch in 100 pesos each, in order to cover their expenses for the following months. We were able to give the high school 8,600 which is equivalent to $200USD. Some of us donated more than 1000 pesos. This was a wonderful, unexpected finish to and equally incredible experience in this beautiful community in Negros.
The Bridge 2012: Taal Elementary

Traveling across the pacific for a 16 hour flight, a 3 hour drive and a boat ride to Taal Patangas, Soulciety’s 2012 Bridge team put on a stellar performance. The huge difference in lifestyles had my eyes wide open throughout the day. Seeing how students would have to travel to school through jungles and crazy traffic brought me into my parents shoes and made me realize how convenient our lives are. Right away landing on the shore of what we were calling Volcano island, the village was completely ready for us, the stage was set on a 10x20’ concrete platform and a PA system that was powered by a pull start generator. After our performance the kids were glowing with inspiration and we began our workshops teaching dance and music arts. We worked and hour each with each of our classes and got to perform with the children front of the school and just made a surreal experience for all of us.

How much time do you gossip about people and how time do you actually spend helping people? What can you get more out of in life? Chopping down someone else’s tree does nothing for you. Before you know it that person’s tree is on its last strike and they may not be here tomorrow. How would you feel about them then? Be the better person. If something wrong was done, apologize, if you did something wrong, say you’re sorry. You always have the option to make to make things right.
This rules and made my night!

Thankful for everyone and everything in my life. Everyday in ever way… We are getting stronger, faster, smarter, tougher, healthier, happier, the list goes on and on. It’s time to take everyone with us and no one can stop us. Constant And Never-Ending Improvement never felt so good. Grasp on with all your might. Grasp on with all your might… Grasp on with ALL… YOUR… MIGHT!
My name is Michael Tomes Pacis, born in Bayombong, Nueve Vizcaya Philippines. I am the youngest of four, and I came to America when I was just three years old. My older brother, Marlon, and I use to find toys in a dumpster and thought people were crazy for throwing such treasures away. Little did I know, I would grow up with a passion
for collecting recycled goods to give back to the community. Earlier this year, I joined an amazing non-profit organization called, Soulciety, who empowers youth through leadership and creativity. Our
organization has already collected over 100 computers, 5000 hygiene supplies, 5500 school supplies, 4000 books, 1000 shoes, and a number of boxes filled with clothes, toys, sports equipment, and medical supplies to bring back to the Philippines.
Due to my fitness program Can I Be, I was selected out of all our members located in New York, Los Angeles, and the San Francisco Bay Area to represent Soulciety’s Top 20 to host their mission program, The Bridge. This program educates impoverished villages with workshops such as dance, technology and my two greatest passions, fitness and music.
This will be a life-changing journey for us all, and to touch people’s lives back in my home country will be breath taking. Growing up, I was told I was lucky to have the clothes on my back and food on the table, and then I attended a Soulciety meeting and listened to the
first group of members that went to The Bridge program. They shared their experiences, and I watched them break down, crying in front of us all. It was a concrete eye opener.
I vow to give it my all when I get out there, and reach out to as many people as I possibly can. My goal is to raise $3,000 for flight and lodging, and I am very excited to be raising this money for the next three months. I will be
leaving on January 16th, 2012, and I will do everything in my power to reach out to everyone I know to make this dream mission come true.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate
your contribution.
God bless
